Throughout this book, the reader will discover testimonies of patients collected by Dr. Jerome Palazzolo, psychiatrist in Nice (France), in the context of an intra and extra therapeutic activity. They have the advantage of being neither commented nor interpreted. They have the nudity of simple facts. They are simple, made of poignant sincerity, unavoidable, and pronounced in a state of anxiety that marks the lives of individuals suffering from mental disorders. The divergence with the order of the rational, the incommunicability of suffering, the impossibility for sick people to understand what happens to them, in short, the inability of intelligence to what should be its essential function... as much findings that highlight the importance of the problems, not only for the patients themselves, but also for those who accompany and support them everyday. Here, the painful and unequal combat of individuals for their dignity force respect and admiration. All texts transcribed in this book are the work of patients hospitalized in psychiatry or their relatives, and these thoughts are mostly imprinted of emotions that remind us how mental illness can be a source of suffering...

  • Jérôme Palazzolo (auteur)

    Médecin psychiatre libéral installé à Nice (France), Jérôme Palazzolo est spécialisé en psychopharmacologie et en thérapies cognitivo-comportementales. Il est également professeur de psychologie clinique et médicale au département Santé de l’Université internationale de langue française Senghor (opérateur direct de la Francophonie) à Alexandrie, en Égypte, et il anime des conférences partout dans le monde. Par ailleurs, il est chercheur associé au LAPCOS (Laboratoire d'Anthropologie et de Psychologie Cliniques, Cognitives et Sociales) de Nice, et chargé de cours à l’Université Côte d’Azur où il est co-fondateur du Diplôme Universitaire de thérapies comportementales et cognitives. En parallèle de ses études de médecine et de sa spécialisation en psychiatrie, Jérôme Palazzolo a suivi un cursus en pharmacologie, en neurosciences, en anthropologie de la santé et en psychologie. Il a publié de nombreux articles de référence et plus d’une soixantaine d’ouvrages traitant des diverses pratiques psychiatriques et des sciences humaines (https://www.facebook.com/Dr.Palazzolo/)
