Los Angeles, 1966. Norman est un musicien professionnel de jazz reconnu, mais depuis sa rupture avec sa petite amie Emily, il est incapable de jouer une seule note. Enlevé en plein désert par une secte de fans, le voilà qui retrouve la crème de la crème du jazz pour enregistrer l'album d'une vie... Jusqu'à l'arrivée de la police qui démantèle le réseau et libère le groupe. 33 ans plus tard, dans une petite ville de Charente, Norman qui n'a pas retouché à un instrument depuis, reçoit une lettre d'Emily qui lui annonce sa venue...

Born in 1980, Alexandre Clérisse first got started in comics back in 1999, fresh out of high school, by experimenting with a number of zines and self-publishing projects. After obtaining a diploma in the visual arts in 2002, he began to gain experience in the field with various illustration projects, including posters, layouts, and other artwork for festivals, cultural associations, and private companies. In 2003, he returned to comics in a big way when he began studying the craft in Angoulême. There things took off, and it wasn't long before he was collaborating on serious graphic novel projects. His first solo project came in 2007, with the engrossing "Jazz Club" (Dargaud, Europe Comics in English), where his characteristic style already jumps off the page. Recently, Clérisse has teamed up with scriptwriter Thierry Smolderen to produce two other spectacular graphic novels with Dargaud, the otherworldly "Souvenirs de l'empire de l'Atome" (2013) and the psychadelic and award-winning "Été diabolik" (2015). Also with Dargaud (and Europe Comics in English, 2019), Clérisse worked as solo author on the graphic novel "Trompe la mort" (The Bugle Boy). Several other works with Dargaud have been published in recent months, including "Feuilles volantes" (Scattered Pages) in 2022, a brilliant ode to the graphic novel form.
