Résumé

In book two of this historical saga, the elderly Louise recounts her grandmother Josephine's struggles to run the family plantation in the years leading up to the American Civil War. Josephine tries to raise her son Jean to be nothing like his grandfather and uncle, whose tyranny over their slaves and the women of the family forced Josephine and her mother to resort to the services of a voodoo priestess from New Orleans. But when Jean falls for a slave named Celeste, Josephine's tolerance and values are put to the test.

Auteur

  • Chretien Léa (auteur)

Léa Chrétien was born in France in 1986. In her childhood, she developed a passion for drawing and storytelling. A voracious reader, she devoured all kinds of books. She had a preference for detectives and fantasy novels but also for poetry or comics. After graduating in the visual arts, she went to Liège to study illustration at ESA Saint-Luc. At the end of her training, she was working on multiple projects of comic books, although none of them came to fruition. In the time following a trip to the southern states of the US, the idea for a new story began to sprout in her mind. Two years later, she wrote "Louisiana" (Dargaud; Europe Comics in English), with Gontran Toussaint as the illustrator.
  • Toussaint Gontran (Illustré par)

Gontran Toussaint was born in 1989 in Namur, Belgium. He discovered comics and graphic novels at a very young age with some classic Franco-Belgian humor and adventure series, and absolutely needed to know how it all worked. Naturally, he decided to create his own stories and print them in comic format. During his teenage years, he discovered some of the masters of comics realism such as Jean Giraud and Hermann, who would have an enormous impact on Toussaint's work. With an arts diploma, he began to study "bande dessinée" at ESA Saint-Luc and proposed his work to various publishers. Renaud Garretta and Laurent Granier, drawn in by his work, proposed that he join them on a new project for Dargaud, "Reporter." He followed this in 2019 with the first volume of "Louisiana" (Dargaud; Europe Comics in English), alongside Léa Chrétien.
