He later decided to portray his imagination allegorically and turned his ideas into the famous novel "Pinocchio", which is to this day considered one of the greatest children’s books of all times and was made into the extremely popular Disney movie.

Carlo Lorenzini, qui écrivait sous le nom de Carlo Collodi, naquit à Florence en 1826. Devenu journaliste, il créa deux revues humoristiques, publia plus tard des pièces de théâtre et des romans. C'est vers 1859, au début de ses années de lutte pour l'unité et l'indépendance italiennes, qu'il adopta son pseudonyme. De 1875 à sa mort, en 1890, il écrivit des contes et toute une série de livres éducatifs. Déjà très apprécié des enfants, il devint à jamais célèbre avec les aventures de Pinocchio, qui parut d'abord en feuilleton et fut bientôt traduit dans tous les pays du monde.
