The Initiates of the Flame by Manly P. Hall is an introduction to the concept of spiritual Flame, which is the essence of God and the universe. The Flame is the spiritual principle in man, and it is guarded and protected by purified souls who have renounced the life of this sphere. The Flame is the key to human progress, and it has been tended by the Initiates of the Flame, who have labored with mankind to help him uncover the light within himself. These Initiates are the mighty demigods of the past, who have left their seal, the seal of Fire, on the pages of history. They have shown us the way, and we should honor them by living in a way that their sacrifice shall not be in vain. The Flame is the universal symbol of God, and it is worshiped under many names in all lands. We are the Flame-Born Sons of God, and we should find this Flame and serve it, realizing that it is in all created things.
