"Quo Vadis: A Narrative of the Time of Nero" is a historical novel written by Henryk Sienkiewicz in Polish. It tells the story of the love between a young Christian woman named Lygia and a Roman patrician named Marcus Vinicius. The novel carries a pro-Christian message and was first published in installments in 1895 and 1896. It contributed to Sienkiewicz's Nobel Prize for literature in 1905. The story revolves around the persecution of Christians in Rome during Nero's reign. Several movies have been based on the novel. The novel merges historical events with fictional elements, and the term "Quo vadis, Domine?" is derived from a story in the apocryphal Acts of Peter. The novel has had a significant impact on art, popular culture, and literature.
