Dimitris Vanellis was born in Lesvos Island and has lived in Athens since 1976, where he works in the Library of the School of Fine Arts. Since 1990, he has worked with many Greek comic artists, providing the script for stories, most of them published in magazines. With co-scriptwriter D. Kalaitzis and artist Spyros Derveniotis, Dimitris created the character Fanouris Aplas, who starred in four albums all published by Mamouth Comics. Since 2011, he has collaborated with Thanasis Petrou on several albums, including "Pararlama and other stories of Demosthenes Voutiras," "The Yousouri...", "The Great Week of Prezakis," based on a short story by M. Karagatsis (all published by Topos editions), and "Giannoulis Halepas, the myth of modern Greek sculpture" (Patakis, 2018). His latest work is "The Loneliness of the Abyss" (Jemma Press, 2022/Europe Comics, 2023), in cooperation with artist Nikolas Kourtis. He is also the author of four books set in the sci-fi and fantasy genre, as well as many articles for the press.
