Eddy L. Harris was born in Indianapolis in 1956. His first book, Mississippi Solo, which recounts his solo canoe journey down the Mississippi River, was acclaimed by American critics. While traveling throughout Europe, Africa and the Americas, he chose France to be his home, where he has published numerous books. He likes to define himself as follows: “I'm a writer, a goof-off, a clown, a traveler. Being black is just one of my facets.”
