Depuis l'adolescence, il se passionne pour l'œuvre de Frédéric Dard auquel il a déjà consacré, en 1995, un portrait pour la télévision en collaboration avec Francis Gillery, ainsi qu'une biographie, Frédéric Dard ou la vie privée de San-Antonio.
