‘Bouvard and Pécuchet’ (1881) was written by the great French author Gustave Flaubert, famous for his scandalous best-selling novel ‘Madame Bovary’. Although unfinished at the time of his passing, this posthumous novel is now considered one of Flaubert's masterpieces. Two retired Parisian clerks, Bouvard and Pécuchet, set out on a quest for truth and knowledge, but despite constant failure, the pair continue their symbolic adventure with dogged optimism.A humorous, gripping satire that touches on politics, love, and religion, ‘Bouvard and Pécuchet’ is Flaubert at his best.Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880) was a French novelist, regarded as one of the great Western writers and a leading exponent of literary realism in France. A hugely influential figure, he is best known for his debut novel ‘Madame Bovary’ (1857) which caused a nationwide scandal upon publication with its realistic portrayal of bourgeois life. The historical novel ‘Salammbô’ and the painting-inspired ‘The Temptation of Saint Anthony’ are some of his other well-known works. Many of Flaubert’s stories have since been adapted for TV and film including ‘Madame Bovary’ (2000) starring Hugh Bonneville.

Gustave Flauvert naît à Rouen en 1821. Issu d'une famille bourgeoise, il abandonne rapidement ses études de droit pour se consacrer à l'écriture. En 1857, la publication de Madame Bovary fait l'objet d'un procès retentissant. En 1862, paraît Salammbô, qui connaît un grand succès, puis en 1869, L'éducation sentimentale. Gustave Flaubert meurt en 1880 d'une hémorragie cérébrale, laiisant sa dernière oeuvre, Bouvard et Pécuchet, inachevée.

I began this journey a few years ago as a medium. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that would lead me to be able to hear G-D, Jesus and some Arch Angels. I started getting messages that I needed to go out on the beach at sunrise, and to bring my tablet, more commonly known as a notebook. I would walk up and down the beach thinking I would see something like the burning bush, but that didnt happen. It couldnt be as simple as that. I needed to sit down with my tablet and start writing what I heard. I soon realized I was going to have to work hard for this. Almost every morning I would sit down either at the beach or later in my house, to listen to the great spirits tell me their wisdom. It would take a full year to put together this book. I asked G-D why me? Im not a bible scholar or anyone of great importance. Im just an average housewife and mother. He told me the meek shall inherent the earth.Dori Green Morris
