"Fathers and Sons" is a novel written by Ivan Turgenev in 1862. The story follows Arkady Kirsanov, a university graduate who returns to his father's estate with his friend Eugene Bazarov. While Arkady's father is initially happy to have them, his brother Pavel is disturbed by the young men's nihilistic beliefs. As Arkady becomes more influenced by Bazarov, tensions arise between him and his father. The two friends visit a relative and meet Madame Anna Odintsova, who intrigues them. However, Bazarov's nihilistic views clash with her values, and he eventually dies from an infection. Arkady falls in love with Anna's sister Katya and marries her, while his father marries a servant named Fenechka. The novel explores the generational divide between the older, traditionalist fathers and the younger, more progressive sons.
